Room 406
In 2014 Chicago design studio, Room 406, commissioned two works inspired by, and incorporating repurposed Japanese Boro textiles. One piece, meant as a bed covering, used recycled mid-Twentieth century Japanese textiles and American homespun linens. The other work, a hanging wall piece reconstructed Japanese boro textiles that had been patched and reworked many times and for many purposes throughout their history in Japan. Both pieces were exhibited as a part of the show Transcendent Objects with work by ceramicists Ryota Aoki and Lilith Rocket in Fall 2014. For more information on these commissions contact Room406.com
